Entry-Level to Advanced - Soldering Techniques
Solder Tech offers entry-level soldering, advanced soldering techniques, micro soldering, and IPC certification.
Entry Level Soldering
Learn about the soldering fundamentals that enable clean, consistent results. This course is intended for individuals who have no or little prior soldering experience. In this course you will learn:
- The importance of understanding how oxidation and tip cleanliness affect your work
- Understanding 'WPI', (work piece indicators)
- The purposes of wick and flux and what applications they can be used in
- 2 methods of performing industry recognized wire splices
Advanced Soldering Techniques
Excellent course to further your knowledge of soldering practices. This course is intended for individuals who have previous soldering experience or who have completed the Soldering Fundamentals course. In this course you will learn:
- SMD landing preparation
- Removal and installation of:
- Thru-hole components
- SMD packages
- IC packages such as; Fine-pitch ICs, BGAs and QFN/QFP packages with thermal pads.
- How to perform PCB re-work modifications
- Understanding of PCB topology and component identification
Microsoldering
Learn how to perform one of the industry’s most challenging tasks! Work on components that are no bigger than a grain of sand. This course is intended for individuals who have extensive soldering experience or who have completed the Advanced Soldering Techniques course. In this course you will learn:
- How to remove high-difficulty components and packages such as 01005 and 0201
- Remove and install fine-pitch BGAs
- How to perform complex PCB modifications
- How to use additional soldering aids, such as; UV curable solder mask, solder paste, flux paste
- 38 AWG +, wire jumper modifications
